Dr Jenny Coghlan
Chiropractor
Integrative Health Practitioner
20+ years in practice. Still curious. Still asking better questions.
I’ve spent more than two decades helping people move, function and feel better.
And if there’s one thing clinical practice has taught me, it’s to keep asking questions.
A stiff neck might be the reason someone walks through the door. But what else is going on? How are they sleeping? Recovering? Moving? Eating? What load are they carrying?
How well is their nervous system adapting to it all?
That curiosity is what shaped the way I practise today.
You’ll find me at The Integrative Chiropractic Studio in Altona North, Melbourne.
Chiropractic has always been my foundation
Chiropractic has quite literally been part of my life since I was born. I first saw a chiropractor when I was two weeks old, and growing up, regular chiropractic check-ups were simply part of what we did as a family.
Perhaps it’s not surprising, then, that family care has always felt like a natural part of my own practice.
I’ve found myself doing the same for other families, caring for babies only weeks old, women through pregnancy, growing kids and teenagers, and adults at every stage of life.
But my curiosity has always extended beyond the spine.
Why does one person recover quickly while another struggles?
Why does something keep coming back?
What influences the body's ability to adapt when life, work, training, stress or illness adds more load?
Those questions took my clinical interests well beyond where they began.
A broader view of health
Alongside my chiropractic qualifications, I have undertaken postgraduate training in functional neurology and stress physiology.
I am a Certified Chiropractic Wellness Lifestyle Practitioner (CCWP) and a Fellow of the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (FACNEM).
The more I’ve learned, the more interested I’ve become in how the different systems of the body influence one another, including:
nervous system function and movement
gut and immune health
hormonal and metabolic regulation
nutrient sufficiency
detoxification and elimination
I’m also interested in how all of these interact with the physical, emotional and environmental demands we encounter every day.
It’s these relationships that interest me, and what they may mean for our ability to adapt, recover and function well.
Why The Integrative Chiropractic Studio?
I created The Integrative Chiropractic Studio as a place where the way I think about health could be reflected in the way I practise.
Chiropractic remains at the heart of what I do, alongside a broader integrative approach that considers the many factors influencing how the body functions, adapts and recovers.
It’s this thinking that led me to develop a framework that brings chiropractic and integrative health together into a more cohesive approach:
LOAD → ADAPTATION → RECOVERY → RESILIENCE
We can’t remove every load from life. To me, health is about having the capacity to adapt, recover and build resilience over time.
